I managed a day at the Silverstone Classic this year and was taken up by my old chum Louis Cassoni, thanks Louis.Met up with some great old friends and I was touch by the welcome I had. A most enjoyable day.We had lunch with the great Morgan expert and racer Bruce Stapleton,

met up with David Piper and Peter Smith

A great old picture turned up showing the Chevron B8 FVA in a duel with Jean-Pierre Jaussaud in a works 2 litre Alfa Type 33. which in fact was no match to the Chevron with the FVA. Barrie won !

Max Scott kindly sent me another photo from the Crystal Palace race in 1969, it shows Roger Nathan’s Astra FVA being chased by my Chevron B8 FVA, I have no idea about the results but I am sure I did not catch Roger in his super fast Astra with it’s wood classis which was so light and aerodynamic . [Designed by Frank Costin] So I might have come second? Will try to check Autosport.

Great photo of the early laps of Trophy of the Dunes with Gijs Van Lennep, David Piper,Brian Muir, John Miles in the Lotus 62s, and me half hidden in 6th place inside the Porsche 906 of Toine Hazemens. A great photo from a magazine, not sure which one.Anyway the race was not good for me with a rare DFN due to a puncture. I did love Zandvoort track and did win a couple of international races there in 69/70. Just this was not one of them !

It pays to be patient, I have waited 43 years to meet up with my old friend Francois Eschapasse,the marketing director of Kodak Pathé who sponsored our Lola T290 in 1972 ! Yesterday we met up near St. Emillion where is was the most glorious day. We drove north for about 2 hours from our place and Francois and his lovely wife Eve welcomeed us like we had met up just last week ! It was charming. Here is a little photo of our meeting and many thanks to all those at Kodak Pathé who made it possible for us to meet up.
We did not really have long enough as we only had time for lunch which was excellent. Both Francois and his charming wife Eve were on good form.

Very sad news came from my old pal Peter Smith last night, telling me Peter Crossley had passed away suddenly on the 23rd March 2009.
Peter Crossley was one of the elite group of Chevron B8 drivers who was there at the very beginning of the Chevron B8 period. The Chevron B8 was the best handling sports car of all time according to Stirling Moss, who allegedly drove one for the 1st time in the 1980’s !All of us who were lucky enough to have raced those cars when they were new are in fact an elite group of drivers and very privileged.
RIP Peter.

The 1st of June 1968 we went to our local circuit Brands Hatch with the brand new Chevron B8 1600cc twin cam. This the Motoring News report from that meeting.
Unbeknown to me at that time there were several “now” friends racing, who I did not know at this time. Namely: Harry Stiller, Bruce Stapleton, Alan Fowler,Alastair Cowin and Tony Lanfranchi.
As far as I am concerned I could not believe how easy to drive fast the Chevron B8 was.Anyway a happy result.
