In 2009 the HSCC organised a race for 1000cc F3 cars from the late 1960’s. It was 50 years before that these little single seaters, known as “screamers” first took to the track. To mark the occasion HSCC gathered together some of the original drivers shown here in a photo by Marie-Therese.

Phoenix Park 1970. I just got this lovely picture of our Lola in Phoenix Park Dublin racing to third place in 1970. Photo is courtesy of Eddie Fitzgerald who sent it via the BRDC, thanks Eddy. I guess Eddie, you were watching what happened that day, we had the black box which controls the Alternator fail so the battery was not charging. Unfortunately it was wet and the wipers needed to be used. we hooked up a spare battery in line so we started the race with 2 batteries but as the race drew on the batteries got weaker and weaker, the engine went onto 7 cylinders then six, so having lead the race by some margin for over 30 minutes we were lucky to finish up third ! Anyway many thanks for the 1970 photo.
