More sad news this week, I heard that another good racer has gone to the Paddock in the sky.
Alan Fowler, driver and constructer of the Mercury sports racer cars and the A part of D&A Shells of Stratford high Street left us this morning.

Alan and I had met in Club racing about 1967 when his metallic green Mercury twin cam engined GT cars were demon competitive and quite able to keep up with the larger racing car manufacturers of the time, namely Lotus, Brabham, Crossley,Diva GSM, etc. In Later year Alan constructed an FVA engine car for his son Justin.

In 1968 Alan came on his first Continental / International race event at Jyllandsringen in Denmark. After that he went to several other International events which he enjoyed.
Here are a couple of photo of Alan in one of his later Mercury racers and with me soon after my motor cycle accident where I am still on crutches !
Sincere condolence to Alan’s wife Margret and son Justin.
