Meribel was a very challenging hillclimb, 18kms. from the valley to Meribel 1600m. I nearly spun in the 1st kilometer and had to stop and put the Lola back into 1st gear and set off again. We geared the car for 140 mph which was a daunting speed on that narrow, bumpy mountain road. My time was 8.00m For any of you who have skied in Meribel the coach journey takes about 45 minutes which sort of puts the 8.00m time in prospective. Anyway it was a fun week-end which I remember well. It is where I met Marie-Therese, my wife of over 40 years.
