Chevron B8 FVA- BO8-DBE68

1969 Barrie sold the blue twin cam B8 [BO8-DBE56] to David Purley and purchased new B8 from Red Rose Motors who had ordered an extra chassis from Chevron. This was fitted with a Cosworth FVA engine with a power increase over the 68 car to 245 bhp, a potent package which bought success.
Barrie remembers that the B8 FVA was a joy to drive, fast, forgiving and very rewarding.

The B8 FVA won 3 international races outright in 1969,
1st Wundstorf 17/8/69,
1st Zandvoort,6/7/69
1st Jyllandsringen, Denmark, 24/8/69

plus class wins at Magny-Cours, Dijon, Montlhery, Magny Cours again. That was the year which qualified him to join the prestigious BRDC.

During a visit to David Piper's home, then in Rosebury Avenue, David told Barrie he really should join the BRDC. He proposed him, signed the application for membership and the late Tony Lanfranchi signed as the seconder, Tony lived upstairs from David in those days. It was sound advice.

Joining the BRDC was a life time achievement as he is now a life member of the club.
